ISLAMABAD: International media has reported that the recent dogfight between Pakistani and Indian fighter jets during India’s attack on Pakistan was one of the largest in recent aviation history.
According to the American television channel CNN, a total of 125 fighter jets were involved in the clash. A senior Pakistani security official told CNN that it was one of the “largest and longest” air battles in recent aviation history. According to Pakistani officials, Pakistani forces shot down five Indian aircraft in this air clash, including three French-made Rafale fighter jets. According to sources, the fight lasted for more than an hour. According to CNN, the planes of both countries remained in their respective airspaces, while the missiles were often exchanged at a distance of more than 160 kilometers. According to the report, neither side decided to send its pilots across the border, because during a clash in 2019, an Indian plane was shot down by Pakistan inside its territory and its pilot was captured and shown to international media, which was embarrassing moment for India. The sources said that at times the Indian Air Force had to attack multiple times to hit its targets. Pakistan made every effort to warn citizens of potential target areas, and the army succeeded in keeping civilian casualties to a minimum.
