WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has called on Pakistan to condemn the attack in Pahalgam and urged it to cooperate with Indian government in the transparent investigation of the incident.
According to the British news agency Reuters Rubio has urged India and Pakistan to work together to reduce tensions after the Pahalgam attack. After separate talks with the two leaders, the US State Department said in a statement that Marco Rubio called on Pakistan to condemn the Pahalgam attack and cooperate in the investigation process of terrorist.
According to the US State Department, Marco Rubio urged cooperation with Pakistani authorities in the investigation of this irresponsible attack.” US Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged the nuclear-armed neighbours to work with each other to “reduce tensions, restore direct communication, and maintain peace.”
Washington also urged other countries to cooperate in reducing tensions, while calling on India and Pakistan to find a “responsible solution” to the issue.A statement issued by the office of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he had asked the US secretary of state to urge India to “reduce its rhetoric.”
A statement issued by the Pakistani Prime Minister’s Office on Wednesday said the prime minister briefed Foreign Secretary Mark Rubio on Pakistan’s perspective on recent developments in South Asia following the Pahalgam incident.
