LAHORE: Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq is expected to take up a key role in the national cricket setup once again, with strong indications that he may be appointed as head coach of the Test team.
The development comes after PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s recent appointment of Mike Hesson as white-ball coach and the removal of several high-profile mentors, including Misbah, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, Waqar Younis and Saqlain Mushtaq. Reports suggest both Misbah and Sarfaraz may get important PCB positions.
While there’s no official confirmation, former cricketer Basit Ali congratulated Misbah on social media for the Test coach role. Misbah, Pakistan’s most successful Test captain, previously served as national head coach from 2019-2021.
The PCB is undergoing major restructuring after dismissing mentors who were reportedly earning Rs 50 million annua
