PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Police have formally requested the Deputy Commissioner (DC) to cancel the arms licenses of 320 individuals accused in criminal cases across the city. These suspects, involved in various offenses, still legally possess firearms, raising concerns over public safety and law and order.

According to police correspondence, the accused have active arms licenses despite being named in FIRs at 26 different police stations. Chamkani Police Station reported the highest number (51), followed by Regi*(42), Rehman Baba (24), Tehkal (18), and Khazana, Shahpur, and Bhana Mari (16 each). Other areas, including Armar, Inqilab, Faqirabad, Gulberg, and Town, also have multiple accused holding licenses.
The police emphasized that individuals involved in serious crimes pose a threat to peace and should not be allowed to retain firearms. Authorities have urged legal action under relevant laws to revoke these licenses and have shared the accused persons’ details, including FIR numbers and ID cards, with respective police stations for further action.
