PHC grants protective bail to opposition leader Omar Ayub

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday granted protective bail to the National Assembly opposition leader, Omar Ayub.

The application for protective bail of Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub was heard on Thursday by a two-member bench headed by Justice Muhammad Naeem Anwar.

The court granted Omar Ayub’s protective bail and ordered that he not be arrested in the cases registered till April 15.

The petitioner’s lawyer informed the court that more than 100 cases are registered against Omar Ayub across the country and details of the cases against him should be provided so that he can prepare his legal defense.

On this, the court inquired from whom the report was being sought, to which the lawyer took the position that a response should be sought from all the relevant parties, including the centre and Punjab, so that the details of the cases could be obtained in a timely manner and bail applications could be filed in the relevant courts.

The court adjourned the hearing, seeking reports from the federal authorities and other relevant institutions.
