Prime Minister PM Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezishkian over the phone today, offering condolences for the lives lost in the recent explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas.
The Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran and readiness to assist in any way possible. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
During the call, the two leaders discussed regional developments, including the Pahalgam incident. PM Shehbaz clarified Pakistan’s stance, denying any involvement in the incident and reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to peace. He welcomed Iran’s potential role in promoting regional stability.
On the Indus Waters Treaty, the Prime Minister rejected India’s use of water as a weapon, vowing to protect Pakistan’s water rights. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination in line with UN resolutions.

President Pezishkian thanked PM Shehbaz for his condolences and praised Pakistan’s peace efforts. He also invited the Prime Minister to visit Tehran, to which PM Shehbaz responded by renewing his invitation for the Iranian President to visit Pakistan.
