PM Shehbaz urges brotherly countries to put pressure on India to ease tension in South Asia

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has urged brotherly countries, including Saudi Arabia, to pressure India to ease tension in South Asia.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office’s Media Wing on Friday, Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed al-Maliki called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in which the Prime Minister expressed his best wishes for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud. He thanked the Saudi leadership and people for always expressing solidarity with Pakistan.

Expressing Pakistan’s position on the current peace and security situation in South Asia after the Pahalgam incident, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan has condemned all forms and manifestations of terrorism. Pakistan has made great sacrifices in counter-terrorism efforts over the past years, which have proven to be extremely important for the security of Pakistan and the entire world. He categorically rejected the baseless Indian allegations linking Pakistan to the Pahalgam incident without any evidence and reiterated his demand for a transparent and impartial international investigation into the incident.

Highlighting the government’s full focus on consolidating the hard-earned economic gains of the past 15 months with the support of friendly countries, including Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister said that India’s attempts to jeopardise Pakistan’s achievements and divert the country from the path of economic development are incomprehensible. He urged brotherly countries, including Saudi Arabia, to put pressure on India to reduce tensions in the region.

He reiterated Pakistan’s desire for peace and stability in South Asia. The Saudi ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for expressing his views on this important issue and said that Saudi Arabia wants to work with Pakistan for peace and security in the region.
