PM visits ISI headquarters, receives briefing on national security

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the headquarters of Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), where he was given a comprehensive briefing on the current security landscape at both national and regional levels in the wake of the Pahalgam attack.

Senior ISI officials informed the prime minister about ongoing counterterrorism operations, emerging threats, and the broader internal and external security dynamics.

The briefing was attended by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, all service chiefs, and other senior officials.

The visit underscored the government’s strong commitment to national security and recognised the pivotal role of intelligence agencies in safeguarding the nation.

During the session, ISI leadership reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast determination to defend its sovereignty against any threat.

Prime Minister Sharif expressed complete confidence in the capabilities of the armed forces and intelligence agencies, emphasising the importance of sustained coordination and alertness in the face of evolving security challenges.

“The entire nation stands united behind its armed forces and intelligence services in the defence of Pakistan,” he declared.

Earlier, during a National Assembly session on Tuesday, chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, lawmakers unanimously agreed that any Indian aggression would be met with a strong and resolute response.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan remarked that while India and Pakistan are neighbours and should avoid war rhetoric, any act of Indian misadventure would be met with retaliation.
