LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Ijaz Chaudhry was immediately shifted to the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute after deterioration of his health in jail.
According to the lawyer, Ijaz Chaudhry is facing severe pain due to a kidney infection and seven gallstones. Talking to the media, Ijaz Chaudhry’s lawyer, Rana Mudassar Advocate, said that his client’s health is deteriorating rapidly, and so far his weight has decreased by 22 kilograms. He is undergoing several medical tests in the hospital.
According to jail authorities, he was immediately shifted to the hospital after his health deteriorated so that timely treatment could be possible.
It should be remembered that Ijaz Chaudhry is imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail under the May 09 cases. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court on July 22 in the Sherpao Pul violence-related case along with other PTI leaders Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed and Sarfaraz Cheema, while Shah Mehmood Qureshi and others were acquitted.
PTI sources say that Ijaz Chaudhry’s continued poor health is a cause of concern, and legal options are being considered to ensure proper treatment at the earliest.
The long-term Jail duration had also affected the health of several PTI leaders, include Yasmin Rashid, who is facing several health complications and according to her family, if proper attention was not provided, her health could further aggravate.
