The federal government has decided to abolish TV license fees from electricity bills. Domestic and industrial consumers were being charged a fee of Rs 35 per month in their electricity bills.
The Ministry of Energy and Power Division has prepared a plan to eliminate TV license fees. Domestic consumers are charged a fee of Rs 35 per month in their electricity bills as TV license fees, while industry and commercial consumers are also charged a fee.
On the instructions of the Prime Minister, a plan has been prepared to eliminate TV license fees and other unnecessary surcharges in electricity bills. Recommendations will be presented in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif next week.
About one and a half billion rupees are collected from 42.6 million electricity consumers across the country in the form of TV license fees alone.
