PESHAWAR: Advisor to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister on Information, Barrister Saif has warned Sindh government to refrain from the Chashma Right Bank Canal, adding that the Chashma Right Bank Canal should be immediately removed from the Sindh Assembly resolution.
Saif showed displeasure over the inclusion of the Chashma Right Bank Lift Canal resolution presented in the Sindh Assembly against the proposed canals.
He said that the Chashma Right Bank Lift Low Gravity Canal project was approved in 1991, and in 1991, approval was given to dig canals for all four provinces.
Barrister Saif said that it is the responsibility of the federal government to provide funds for these canals, adding that canals were dug in three provinces, but Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was deprived of its rights. Now, the Sindh government has to fight its case with the federation and Punjab.
Information minister added that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has also offered to provide 35 percent of the funds for this project, despite this, the project is facing delays.
Earlier last month, The Sindh Assembly has unanimously approved a resolution presented by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
The resolution rejected the construction of six new canals, including the Cholistan Canal and termed it an attempt to deprive Sindh of its rightful share of water.

The resolution strongly opposes these projects, declaring them a violation of the 1991 Water Accord.
