The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has firmly denied claims that it has halted the issuance of fresh banknotes.
The central bank reaffirmed its commitment to distributing new currency to commercial banks ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, a longstanding tradition aimed at ensuring the public has access to crisp banknotes during the festive season.
So far, the SBP has issued 27 billion rupees worth of fresh banknotes across all denominations to 17,000 branches of commercial banks nationwide.

These notes are being distributed to the public through the banks’ extensive networks. Additionally, the SBP has coordinated with banks to ensure their ATM networks dispense high-quality banknotes without interruption throughout the holiday period.
To guarantee the efficient distribution of fresh currency, the SBP has deployed cash monitoring teams to conduct on-site inspections at commercial bank branches.
These teams are tasked with ensuring that the new banknotes reach the public as intended.
