NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Students from District North Waziristan demanded the authorities to permanently lift curfew , opened border point for trade and provide basic facilities of Internet and uninterrupted power supply.
Shaukat Aziz Wazir resident of North Waziristan Agency told this scribe that the people of the areas badly suffurred since Mushraf era as there is no peace in the area. He said that students have quit education due to lack of facilities and repeated curfew.
He added that there are no trade activities in the area as one of the important check point of Angoor Ada Border remained closed for the last several years. The people have been deprived of basic rights of trade and business. He said residents were suffering from clashes between the militants and the security forces in the agency. He asked for relaxing the curfew so that those stranded could move to safer locations.
Protesters were led by tribal elders, Malik Riaz and Malik Akbar Khan, along with Waziristan Students Society President Hashim Khan and General Secretary Tahir Dawar.
Shaukat told journalists their hardships have been compounded by power shortages, sluggish gas supply and scarcity of food items,” he said. He claimed that the clashes between security forces and militants had resulted in collateral damage and loss of property.
He demanded Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Muner to take practical steps for the people of the area as the resident faced with multifarious problems of lawlessness and power outages due to which valuable time of the students is being wasted.
