SWABI: Swabi police on Wednesday arrested a shopkeeper and seized thousands of kites and hazardous chemical-coated strings during a crackdown on violations of the Kite Flying Act, officials said.
The operation was launched following public complaints and directives from District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Azhar Khan. Station House Officer (SHO) Asif Ali of Zaida Police Station led a team that raided a shop at Machili Chowk, recovering 2,764 kitesof various sizes and 790 chemical-coated strings (manjas). The accused, identified as Zohaib, a resident of Zaida, was arrested and booked under Section 4 of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Kite Flying Act, 2006.

“Swabi Police remain committed to enforcing the law and protecting citizens’ lives and property,” a police spokesperson said, adding that such operations would continue to curb the illegal trade of kites and deadly strings linked to injuries and fatalities.
