Terrorists targeting provincial administrators is a serious concern: Mian Iftikhar

Peace Jirga

Mian Iftikhar Hussain, the provincial president of the Awami National Party (ANP) and former provincial information minister, has stated that the government has failed to establish law and order in the province. He noted that terrorists have become more organised than ever, yet the government is ignoring this escalating threat. Recently, these terrorists have begun targeting provincial administrators.

Speaking at a workers’ convention in the Pabbi area of Nowshera, Mian Iftikhar Hussain reiterated that all terrorist groups are currently active in Bajaur and that the ANP has raised alarms about this situation repeatedly, but the government has not taken any action. He criticised the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, suggesting that his effectiveness is limited to mere reactions rather than proactive governance.

Hussain also expressed concerns about unconstitutional measures being discussed in the province following a recent court decision. He emphasised that the ANP will not participate in any unconstitutional efforts to undermine the democratic government or engage in political manoeuvring for power.
