MARDAN: Two of three children recovered by the Rescue 1122 divers who were drowned in the Kalpanai nullah in Mardan here on Friday.
According to the spokesperson of Rescue 1122, at around 1 pm, three children from Karimabad, Shayan son of Haidzaman-10, Aftab son of Afsar Ali-10, and the third child, Islam son of Noorzaman-12, were playing near Kalpani nullah in Mayar and started bathing. During this, all three drowned due to the strong currents of water.
Mayor Mardan Himayatullah Mayar, who was present at the scene, said that at the time of the incident, a passing motorcyclist saw the children drowning and got into Kalpani. Two children, Shayan and Aftab, were pulled out of the water and shifted to the hospital.
He said the search for the third child, Azlan, was continued, and local people were also assisting the Rescue 1122 teams in the rescue work.
