Toyota hikes car prices up to Rs. 600000 after federal budget

KARACHI: Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC) has increased prices across its vehicle lineup following Pakistan’s federal budget 2025-26, citing the government’s new NEV (New Enhanced Valuation) levy as the primary cause.

The move comes after similar announcements from Honda, Suzuki, and Changan, signaling industry-wide adjustments. Price hikes range from Rs. 49,000 to Rs. 570,000, with only the Corolla Cross spared for now.

Key Increases Include

  • Toyota Yaris models: Up to Rs. 170,000
  • Corolla Altis variants: Rs. 130,000–Rs. 160,000
  • Fortuner SUV: Maximum Rs. 570,000 hike

The premium Fortuner saw the steepest increase, now costing consumers nearly half a million rupees more for some configurations. Interior options (beige vs. black) also impacted pricing differentials.

Industry analysts confirm the NEV levy – a new import valuation mechanism – has triggered this wave of adjustments. “When production costs shift, consumers ultimately bear the impact,” noted auto expert Mehran Ali. “These hikes may further cool Pakistan’s auto demand amid inflation concerns.”

Toyota Pakistan stated revised price lists are available at dealerships nationwide, while the Corolla Cross adjustment remains pending.
