UPPER CHITRAL: The three-day Qaqlasht festival kicked off in Upper Chitral on Friday with colourful activities.
The colourful opening ceremony of the Qaqlasht 2025 festival was held grandly at the Qaqlasht ground, located at the foot of the lush mountains of Upper Chitral. The event saw full participation from various dignitaries at both the district and local levels, as well as enthusiastic members of the public.
The special guest of honour was Deputy Commissioner Haseeb-ur-Rehman, accompanied by DPO Atiq-ur-Rehman, the District Sports Officer, Line Department officers, Tehsil Chairman Mir Jamshed of Morkho Torkho, and representatives from various civil society organisations.
The ceremony featured a variety of activities showcasing regional culture, including music, dance, and sports competitions, which were all well-received by attendees. Held annually in the expansive valley of Qaqlasht, this festival serves as a symbol of Chitrali culture, peace, and brotherhood.
The district administration notes that the Qaqlasht festival not only engages local youth in positive activities but also attracts both domestic and international tourists, highlighting the beauty and culture of Chitral.
