What is the required soft skills training module for Pakistani workers going abroad?

Every year, millions of people from Pakistan head to the Gulf countries and other regions of the world in search of employment and the remittances sent by these migrants play an important role in supporting the country’s economy, but at the same time, complaints have been coming from various countries that Pakistani workers face difficulties in adapting to the work environment, adopting a behavior according to the local culture, solving language and communication problems, and teamwork in basic aspects.

On many occasions, employers have also said that Pakistani employees are hardworking in their work, but they are not able to meet the standards required in the international market in terms of behaviour and social interaction.

In view of these issues, the Government of Pakistan has taken an important decision that now an ethical training program will be started for every Pakistani going abroad, which is called the ‘Soft Skills Training Module’. This has been made mandatory for every worker going abroad to complete.

This decision has been taken by the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment, according to which after September 18, 2025, no candidate will be able to take registration or protector clearance without obtaining a certificate of this training.

This initiative has been implemented on the direct instructions of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources.

This module has been jointly developed by the Overseas Employment Corporation and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development, while the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation and the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment have provided full support in it.

This training program is actually based on a modern and automated system that will be provided through a web portal and mobile application. This app will be available in both Urdu and English languages so that workers of all levels can easily benefit.

The worker will be able to complete this training at any time and from any place as per his convenience. The web portal and the app have been made interactive so that the participants can not only read the content but also get opportunities to learn and understand practically.
