ISLAMABAD: Differences within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have become serious over the issue of meeting party founding chairman Imran Khan.
Party Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has provided a list of the party leaders to the authorities of the Adiala Jail for meeting with Imran Khan. The list also includes family members of the Imran Khan who have formally requested for visitation.
As per details, the list includes the opposition leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub, and other PTI leaders Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, Hamid Raza, Shibli Faraz, Malik Ahmad Bachar, and Niaz Ullah Niazi.
A separate request for a family meeting has also been made, naming Aleema Khan, Uzma, Noreen Niazi, and Qasim Zaman to meet Imran Khan.
This comes after a previous attempt to meet Imran Khan on Tuesday was unsuccessful, prompting the resubmission of a family visitation request.
Meanwhile, tensions reportedly escalated following Aleema Khan’s brief detention earlier this week.
PTI leadership convened at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, where a heated exchange allegedly occurred between party Chairman Barrister Gohar and General Secretary Salman Akram Raja.
Salman Akram Raja told the media that the names of Barrister Gohar senior PTI leader Ali Zafar and others who met with Imran Khan were not included in the official visitation list.
However, both were granted meetings, raising objections from within the party.
Senior members Atif Khan, Faraz, and Ayub expressed concern over the management and transparency of the visitation process.
