LAHORE: Women’s cricket teams from Thailand, Bangladesh, and Ireland have arrived in Pakistan to compete in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifying Round, aiming to secure a spot in the prestigious tournament.
The teams were escorted from the airport to their hotels under strict security measures, with traffic suspended along their routes to ensure safe passage. The qualifying event, set to begin on April 9, will feature six teamsnPakistan, West Indies, Scotland, Ireland, Bangladesh, and Thailand vying for the top two positions, which will guarantee them a place in the ICC Women’s World Cup.
The matches will be held at Gaddafi Stadium and the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Ground, with the latter hosting an ICC event for the first time. The tournament opener will see Thailand, making their debut attempt at World Cup qualification, take the field on April 10. The final will be played at Gaddafi Stadium on April 19.
