PESHAWAR: Yasir Khan’ aggressive batting left the opposing bowlers helpless in a match against the Lahore Qalandar at Multan cricket ground, it also gave the fans a glimpse of a new star, who could shine on the horizon of the national team in the coming days.
Yasir Khan played a smoky innings of 87 runs off 44 balls, not only giving Multan Sultans their first victory of the tournament but also setting a record for the highest score in the Pakistan Super League.
The 23-year-old Yasir Khan was born on April 13, 2002 in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The right-handed batsman started his career with regional teams, including Rawalpindi Region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi and Pakistan Television. His style of play was aggressive from the start, but a lack of consistency has kept him out of the headlines.
Yasir first caught the eye of the public against Lahore Qalandars while representing Multan Sultans. Yasir’s brilliant batting and Iftikhar Ahmed’s 40 off 18 balls helped the Sultans post a mammoth 228, the highest score in Multan in PSL history. Yasir’s innings was peppered with fours and sixes, and his every shot warmed the hearts of thousands of spectators in the field.
Yasir Khan made his T20 debut in 2022 when he took the field for Quetta Gladiators against Peshawar Zalmi in Karachi. He has since gone on to showcase his talents in first-class and List A cricket. Playing for the Stallions in December 2024, he scored a brilliant century.
Cricket analysts believe that Pakistan has found an opener who can not only handle the new ball but also attack it, a quality that is very valuable in modern-day cricket.
