‘Acquiring nuclear power was a wise decision’ President & PM congratulate the nation on Youm-e-Takbir

President, PM commend security forces for killing 16 terrorists in North Waziristan

ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan is celebrating Youm-e-Takbeer today, marking 27 years since it became the world’s seventh nuclear power and the first in the Islamic world. The day commemorates Pakistan’s decisive response to India’s 1998 nuclear tests with its own tests in Chagai, Balochistan, under then-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s leadership.

PM Shehbaz Sharif’s Message

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hailed the day as a testament to Pakistan’s resilience, linking it to the recent victory against India in the May 6-10 conflict. He praised Nawaz Sharif’s bold decision to conduct six nuclear tests despite global pressure, making Pakistan’s borders “invincible.” The PM honored scientists like Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, and the armed forces for safeguarding nuclear assets.

“The echoes of ‘Allahu Akbar’ from Chagai remind us of our nation’s unyielding spirit,” he said, urging unity and sovereignty.

President Zardari’s Message

President Asif Ali Zardari called nuclear capability a “shield of peace,” crediting Bhutto for initiating the program. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful coexistence but warned that its nuclear deterrence ensures security against aggression.

“Our strength lies in our unity and resolve,” Zardari stated, urging citizens to uphold sovereignty.
