India suspends Indus waters treaty, closes Attari border check post following Pahalgam attack

NEW DELHI: India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and closed the Attari border check post following the Pahalgam attack. The Indian government has also requested that Pakistani citizens leave India immediately and has instructed the Pakistani High Commission in India to depart within a specified timeframe.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has announced additional restrictions on diplomatic relations with Pakistan. Consequently, India has decided to close both the Attari and Wagah borders.

Furthermore, India plans to reduce the number of its diplomats in Pakistan from 55 to 35 and has decided to recall all of its defence attaches from the country.

In addition, India has announced the closure of the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi and ordered Pakistani diplomatic staff to leave within 7 days.

All visas issued to Pakistanis have been cancelled, and they have been ordered to leave India within 48 hours. This includes visas granted under the SAARC scheme, which have also been revoked.
