KP govt releases Rs. 5.5 billion to strengthen police

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur chaired a high-level meeting on strengthening the police to counter rising terrorism in the province.

The Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Additional Chief Secretary Home, and senior officials from the Finance Department and Police attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister ordered to release Rs. 5.5 billion immediately to meet police needs. As per details, Rs. 3 billion was allocated for bulletproof police vehicles and modern equipment. Rs. 1.3 billion provided to strengthen and secure police stations and check posts against terror attacks.

Moreover, Rs. 500 million was released for pending police stations and check post projects while Rs. 720 million released for night vision goggles, snipers, and other gear.

It was decided in the meeting that special weapons and techniques teams would be formed in every district.

Ali Amin Gandapur also announced to equal salaries of the police officers Balochistan and police personnel salaries to Punjab police.

Balochistan police officers have the highest salaries in the country while Punjab police personnel higher than other provinces.

Chief Minister said that maintaining law and order in the province is the government’s top priority. The government has been investing heavily in police resources. Funds will be provided on a priority basis as police must be fully equipped to handle security challenges.

He praised the KP police for fighting against terrorism bravely.
