KP govt to gather data of Afghan students study in province schools

Deadline dread: Afghan refugee girls face uncertain future for education

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to collect complete data of Afghan students studying in the government and private sector educational institutions of the province.

The government authorities have issued instructions to all schools, colleges and universities of the province to provide details of the students within a week.

According to sources, a large number of Afghan students are studying in the educational institutions of the province, but the government does not have a complete record of them. That is why formal forms have been issued to educational institutions in which it has been made mandatory to enter the basic information of the students.

According to these documents issued by the government, the district, school name, educational level and other important details would have to be provided in the form. In addition, additional information of the students will also be part of the form.

Sources say that in the context of the return of Afghan refugees, the government is compiling a record of Afghan students studying in educational institutions so that accurate data is available for any policy-making in the future.

The administration has directed all educational institutions to ensure that the data is provided within the stipulated time, otherwise, strict action can be taken against the responsible authorities.
