KP to reclaim unused industrial lands

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has decided to reclaim unused government lands given to industries.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by the chief minister and attended by cabinet members, chief secretary, additional chief secretary, administrative secretaries, and other officials.

They reviewed the lease policy for various government lands and discussed related issues.

Officials informed the chief minister that several industrial plots remain unused across the province. These lands, valued at billions of rupees, were allocated to boost industrial growth and employment. However, industries have not been established on many of them.

The chief minister ordered the Industries Department and the Board of Revenue to identify all such lands. He directed officials to take immediate steps to reclaim them. He stressed that these lands must not be used for any purpose other than industrial development.

The meeting also discussed leasing government land for business use over long periods. A committee had been formed to review the laws governing this process.

The chief minister instructed the committee to finalize its recommendations. The proposals will be presented in the next cabinet meeting for approval.
