National security is more important than any movement or personality: COAS

 

 

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has said national security is more important than any movement or personality, there is no agenda other than the security of the country.

Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir made this statement while addressing the Parliamentary Committee on National Security at Parliament House on Tuesday.

The meeting was chaired by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, heads of the military leadership and intelligence agencies, federal ministers, chief ministers and governors attended.

The Army Chief gave a fifty-minute briefing in the meeting, while the DG of Military Operations also briefed the participants about the important points. However, opposition members and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi did not attend the meeting.

He said there was no agenda, no movement and no personality greater than the security of the country.

COAS emphasised that for sustainable development, all elements of national power would have to work together with zeal.

“This is a battle for our survival and the survival of our future generations. We need better governance to make the state strong,” COAS said.

He said how long the country would continue to sacrifice countless lives in the shape of a Soft State.

Army chief questioned how long would we continue to fill the governance gaps with the blood of the Pakistani Armed Forces and martyrs.

Mr Asim Munir urged the scholars to expose the distorted interpretation of Islam by the terrorists.

“If this country exists then we are, so there is nothing more important for us than the security of the country. For the security of Pakistan, we will have to adopt a unified narrative beyond our political and personal interests,” COAS asserted.

Military head says today he gives a message to those who think that they can weaken Pakistan through these terrorists that we must unite and We will not only fail them but also all their facilitators.
