Pakistan has overcome economic challenges: Prime Minister

PM Shehbaz thanks Trump for recognising Pakistan’s role in counter terrorism

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday asserted that Pakistan has achieved economic stability through relentless efforts, while institutional reforms and systemic rectifications are in progress to ensure long-term national progress.

In his Pakistan Day message, the Prime Minister honoured the country’s founding leaders, emphasising the historic Lahore Resolution of 1940, which paved the way for an independent Muslim state in South Asia.

“Under the visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal, our forefathers set a clear path for Pakistan’s creation. The Pakistan Resolution remains a guiding document, reminding us of our shared purpose,” he stated.

Addressing economic challenges, PM Shahbaz claimed that his government had successfully stabilised the economy after months of rigorous efforts.

“The parliament, judiciary, and administration are operating within their constitutional frameworks, and the process of institutional reforms continues,” he asserted.

His remarks come as Pakistan faces ongoing economic difficulties, including inflation and fiscal deficits. The government is actively pursuing reforms under the IMF program, focusing on revenue generation and structural adjustments to ensure economic stability.

Furthermore, PM Shahbaz also commended the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism.
