KHYBER: The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) Khyber on Thursday safely defused a Mortar shell near the Pak-Afghan border in Tatara ground of Landi Kotal in Khyber district.
According to the local police, an old mortar shell recovered from the Torkham border was safely defused by the BDS team of the Khyber police squad near Tatara Ground in Landi Kotal.
Police sources said, that after the mortar shell was recovered, the bomb disposal squad defused it with great skill.
Security has been tightened in the area after the incident, while the police and other relevant agencies are conducting further investigations.
Khyber district is known for trade crossing with Afghanistan via Torkham which had been closed for over three weeks and recently opened for all types of trade after successful talks between both neighbouring countries Jirga members.
A clash between the forces of both countries also took place over the construction of a post near the border by the Afghan forces.
